I hope you all have a chance to get a few moments of rest before the semester starts and are excited about your incoming classes!
I’m sending along an article from Inside Higher Ed about the benefits of fostering–rather than finding–purpose. The work is founded on Carol Dweck’s theories about growth mindset, and was performed by an impressive group of researchers.
I’d love to hear more from all of you about how purpose is treated in your wellbeing programming and interactions with students. Do you treat it as something to be found, like a life calling, or as something that can be developed? How might your programming be affected if you focused on purpose as something to be developed, rather than discovered?
