An underappreciated key to college success: Sleep

Hi, all:

A colleague sent me this NY Times article on student sleep, and now that we’re well into the semester, it seems like a perfect time to address this topic.

I don’t know how things are on your campus, but I often hear people complain-bragging about how little they usually sleep or how little sleep they’ve gotten in recent weeks. I’ve heard people who should know better doing this, like our programming staff!

Students who see and hear faculty and staff model poor sleep habits are unlikely to believe any programming or education work we do around the need for good sleep habits.

I hope you enjoy this article and find some more material to help in your efforts to encourage good sleep habits in all of your campus, not just students.

PS – Our thoughts are with all our NC and SC friends. We have had some minor flooding in our area, but little damage relative to other areas. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything at all.
